LTVP or dependant pass?

Post by fay0108 » Sat, 01 Mar 2014 5:01 pm

Hi, my husband is SPR, we have plans to move to Singapore with our 3-month old baby and his parents. I am not sure if we (myself, baby and his parents) should be applying for LVTP or Dependent Pass as they are confusedly similar. I have intention to work in Singapore later. Please advise.

You can ONLY apply for the LTVP. Dependent Passes are only given to the dependents of EP holders, not SPR holders.

If you are on an LTVP, you can always look for a job and if you find a suitable one, the potential employer may apply for an EP for you. At the time the EP is issued, the LTVP will be cancelled by MOM.

+1. This is a giant hole - but at least there is an LTVP available now. Prior to the LTVP there was no category at all for the spouses of SPR's.

Thanks for the clarifications.

I was also wondering if I proceed to apply PR straightaway with our baby, what do you reckon would be our chances? I am a Malaysia Chinese, previously held EP for 2 years in 2008 before moving back to KL. Baby will be enlisted for NS if PR is granted. I am aware the quickest appointment date I can secure is August 29 as of last Saturday.
