Getting my dog to Singapore
Getting my dog to Singapore
I just checked with an airline to transport my dog (2 1/2 yrs old Rat Terrier - 19 lbs) from the US to Singapore. I got an estimate of $3,500..!!! Seriously? I know the quarantine requirements but never expected the transportation of him to be out the roof. Does anyone have any experience with getting their pet from the US to Singapore? Anyone have info on any they have used or heard of others using? Thanks!

I believe that cost - we paid around US $3800 to get our cat from Boston to our home here (including quarantine). We used PetRelocation.com, and found them to be absolutely terrific in taking care of the myriad of paperwork on both sides of the world. We were also told by our PetRelocation that it would be more to ship our cat back to the US, as they use a third party here in Sing to handle this part of the transfer.
This cost was negotiated into our relo package as part of our "family relocation." The HR people wanted to know who "Lillian" was, and why her plane ticket was so much more than mine -
Good luck with your relocation!

That's standard pricing. It's not so much the weight of the dog as the crate size. A 20lb dachshund is more expensive to ship than a 30lb beagle because of the turn and lie down space required. I shipped a dachshund to the UK in the same size crate as my border collie needed.
I've shipped dogs all over and quite often feel very comfortable doing it myself. But not here. You get it wrong and they ship your dog home on the next flight. The official stuff also says that if that is not possible and there is no quarantine space they will pts. Too big a risk.

Re: Getting my dog to Singapore
If the pet is not on the airplane with you, the costs go up a lot. We brought ours with us on EVA Air from Seattle. $250 US per pet for the airfare. We did everything ourselves for the AVA documents (cheaper but I pulled out a lot of hair doing it). We met a couple from NY who spent $8K to have a company do the whole thing. Costs can be all over the map...gnaff9093 wrote:I just checked with an airline to transport my dog (2 1/2 yrs old Rat Terrier - 19 lbs) from the US to Singapore. I got an estimate of $3,500..!!! I have not fully investigated this so it might not be accurate but several people have told me they got their pet here via Air France for US$200.
This link provides a clue but you would need to get in touch and establish if they
carry animals on routes that do not involved a flight to or from France. Maybe from the US you fly via France to Singapore - not sure.
Have a look and let me know what you find
