Dependent pass wants to change jobs

Post by tave » Sun, 23 Feb 2014 7:15 pm

Hi all,

I am a Dependent pass in Sg (from Epass), I have a job for almost a year and I want to find a new job, did anyone here know how is the system?

Is it like Epass, just find a new job once you got new jobs then tender your resignation?

I am confused, because DPass, one we got a job, our employer will apply LOC for us, then we we resign they will cancel LOC.

My questions is, now I have LOC with my company that I am working now, then If I got a new offer, just let my new company apply for LOC first once ok then I tender? how it works? cause I have heard, must cancel first then apply new LOC, its too risky tough.

Need help & advice, did anyone experience this before?

Need help

You understand correctly. Resign from one, cancel LOC, then have new employer request another LOC.

means I have to resign first? I want to look for a job and secure with LOC then resign with my previous, like Epass, secured with In Principal Approval, is it possible?

Ain't gonna happen. Scarbowl, has already answered you question. Albeit, not the answer you want, but no matter how you rephrase it, the answer will still be the same.

I am on a PEP - I applied just before the rules changed so I have a question(sorry to hijack the tread but it looks answered)

The PEP page states "Your spouse may work in Singapore as a Dependant’s Pass holder. However, his/her prospective employer must apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC) with MOM before commencing work."

I thought the employer of the EP signed the LOC - so who signs when it is a PEP?

The employer of the DP applies for the LoC and once granted can put the DP holder to work. The only requirement is that the person be on a DP. The EP holder doesn't have to do anything nor does the ep holder's employer. It's of no concern to the EP holder's employer.

However, you cannot job hope while on a LoC as they are giving the DP a break by even allowing them to work at all (aren't bound by the normal EP criteria), therefore they are not going to allow them to job hop and continue to take jobs away from citizens without being foreign talent (only foreign). If talented, then apply for the EP and you are in the clear.
