schooling

Post by zoeclarke » Tue, 11 Feb 2014 8:59 pm

please can someone help me!! my daughter has been out of school for a year since being in singapore, she will be turning 12 next month and needs to be with her peers its so unfair, she did attend a International School which she was not happy with! we then tried to get her into local school which was extremely hard for her, so with that no schooling she did have a tutor for a short time but kept letting us down!
i just don't know what to do now as no international school will now take her as she has no transcripts for the last year!
when she has done admission assessments we are getting no feed back just saying they can not accommodate her.
Im just at a loss now!!!!!!

Wow, I understand your frustration.
Have you considered K12 homeschooling?
You may need to consider putting her back a grade level and continue supplementing to get her up to grade level. This would take her working year round to catch up.
In saying that...
it would mean big negotiating with the school to work with you.
Which curriculum was she previously on? Western, UK, Aus? If she did 12K (western) for 6 months this could be enough for a school to take a look with fresh eyes. Schools will dig their heels in and shut the door if you let them. Since she is 12 she needs to get on track now as HS is creeping up. Look at the small International Schools. Does she have learning differences? Honestly you need to get with some accredited form of educational study. K-12 is the only one I know of... Call around, insist on seeing the admin and or VP and plead your case and keep calling if there is even the smallest window. …My daughter is 12 and this breaks my heart :(
