Citizenship chances for PR (3 years, with 1 year abroad)

Post by blessedone » Mon, 10 Feb 2014 1:07 pm

so quick question based on subject line - working professional, Indian, Single earning >10k pm (base), What are the chances and should one apply or not?

other related questions -
1. Does gender matter for an applicant if they are single?
2. is there any quota for non-indians, given PRC/indians are the most likely to apply for citizenship

Thanks

Considering he is posting from India at the moment? :-k

Unless he's on annual vacation, I'd say his chances are nil.

From when to when were you abroad?

Were you employed abroad?

Was it with a local (Singapore) employer?

I would suggest waiting until you have at least one REP renewal. After that, I'd say your chances are reasonable.

Anyone else noticed that increase in number of thread asking about citizenship chances? Obviously nothing to do with the recent requirements for buying a HDB

I suspect you will also see number of threads asking about PR chances very soon (one of them will be mine) since PEP is taken away from many by the end of the year (I'm almost there with the requirements... with CPF encashment I'm over it, with just basics - a bit under :) ).

PEP taken away?

Post by blessedone » Thu, 13 Feb 2014 8:26 am

Sergei82- sorry, pardon my ignorance but what does this mean?
"with CPF encashment I'm over it, with just basics - a bit under "

1. can pep holders have cpf?
2. how will this impact you? are you working on your own with pep or with an employer?

Sorry I dont know much about PEP

Why I asked the question about citizenship?

Post by blessedone » Thu, 13 Feb 2014 8:29 am

because long term I know where I would like to be but short term there are certain personal considerations that mandate being away (not necessarily being employed overseas namely non sg locations) for short periods.

One cant always control how and what life brings to you and government processes are stringent but dont accomodate "breaks"

HDB or condos dont interest me - dont think I can afford a down payment for a return of 5% if I am lucky.
