Moving to Singapore in Feb

HI all,
i am Manish and will be moving to singapore in feb 2014.
can anyone in group will tell me which will be the best place to rent .
My office is in Newton. i know that area is costly, but little bit far is also ok from this forum, i had an idea that public transport is good, and what will be the avg rent
