Yeah, my friend who was working here in Barclays and then moved to Barclays Pune just called me. He said 300 people in SIngapore have been fired. I was almost about to get an offer at Barclays last september and now I learn the team in which I was about to move, had I got the offer, has already been lay'd off.
Interesting times.

A Barcap guy I know was relocated to Baku ..

Barclays has another low cost development center in Kiev. The recent protests there must have given Pune a leg up, I would imagine.zzm9980 wrote:It's quite possible. Move the guys in the trenches to India, and keep the "brains" here.Sergei82 wrote:And you know what?
All recruiters say that Barclays is still hiring. In IT!
What a bunch of douchebags - those IT management guys in Barclays! How many careers they're about to screw up!
Mind you their development center in Texas is considered lower cost compared to Singapore. Singapore, has to be doomed.

I would imagine any company shuttling its personnel/departments around the globe really couldnt give a monkeys about an individuals career.Sergei82 wrote:And you know what?

I wonder if it is a Barclays employee!?

I'm curious too. The closest thing I've seen to local music industry are the random performances and CDs for sale at Starbucks. Otherwise, it seems Taiwanese pop is the adopted 'local' music.Sergei82 wrote:Can you be more precise about music industry please? Ukraine isn't an old country historically, and is just an artificial construct of the past ~100 years like most of those in the Middle East which have so much trouble. Random outside powers carving and merging various ethnic groups they don't care so much about. IMO better to let these countries (like Iraq!) split up and/or merge with the neighbors.
Theres a company that manufactures Music Equipment, likes of Dolby. Its a global company. Manufacturing in China and IT development centre in Singapore. So its actually manufacturing, not music sorryzzm9980 wrote:I'm curious too. The closest thing I've seen to local music industry are the random performances and CDs for sale at Starbucks.
