Not that I want to come over as one of those neurotic housewifes but I signed up to x-dengue.com interesting and a bit disconcerting watching the dengue hot spot icons expanding and slowly surrounding where I live! Has a sort of resident evil movie feel to it. Should start digging trenches around the house and fill it with petrol.

The concept of scapegoats/sacrificial lambs exists, for example in East African villages. Tie up a goat on the edge of a village at night, and the lions won't come into the village. A kind of damage limitation strategy I suppose.

Interesting. The dengue clusters seem to follow in the East-Central part the MRT line.

Fear not. My wife is a natural mozzie magnet and she could get like a few bites a day while living near a dengue hot spot. Still nothing, knock knock on unpainted wood, after 10y or so.
Exercise standard caution, spray yourself with a repellent while going outside, have some chemical electric repellents inside and you should be fine.

After some time of relatively low number of new cases dengue is again on sharp rise.
An impressive cluster just in the very middle of Holland Village
condo area - 180 cases!

Of which 136 cases are in Leedon Heights alone
When they find what's causing that someone is going to get whacked.

Currently it is very hot season coupled with occasional rain. Perfect to create more breeding spots, without risk of running water unlike the previous rainy season where water receptacles just get run over and over. The current heat and humidity makes the development time shorter too. And also make people sweat more = easy homing signal for mozzies.
