New words for old.

Post by Bubbles » Sat, 16 Jul 2005 5:24 pm

OK, here's a post for the clued up.

I have been reliably told by my son that NO-ONE calls a group a group nowadays....it's a band.

And also there are no discos, only clubs.

And 'girlfriend' is on it's way out, though what they put in place of that I don't know....maybe 'partner'...?

And as for the word 'courting'....forget it....no-one does THAT anymore....you're 'seeing' someone.

So come on you clued up ones, tell us what's gone out wordwise. What word makes you cringe with it's old-fashionedness?
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas.

Whenever I say "on the contrary" when talking to me misses, she will stare at me and say: " u mean to say "no lah?"

Not sure whether that is out of fashion with her, but surely non-desired wording.

Making love has also been replaced by 'doing sex'
