A little clarification is in order here. Saverin didn't give up his US citizenship to take up Singapore citizenship. He's only a PR here. He gave it up to get out from under the US tax laws. He had dual citizenship already. He's born Brazilian and currently only holds his Brazilian citizenship.
Fair, but the point is he would have gotten it much easier than others in his same position, just less well off and famous.

You will get it this time or in the next attempt for sure.
Hi SGFlyer,

Thank you for the prompt response. Can you share what are the factors that would work for and against my application? After reading through the posts here, I guess my ethnicity is going to be a big negative. Is it that the PhD from Singapore and my area of work increase my chances of getting PR?
PHD from local uni is the key factor in your case.
Singapore flyer, you seem to be the most credible source for PR/SC matters on this forum, I’m just curious if you have history working in immigration?

If I recall correctly, they will only know about your salary and your tax details because you declare that info /consent to share with them.
If they really want, they can pay and get your credit score too.
How would they do that?

Adding a data point. My PR was approved yesterday. I had applied on 15th March 2021 and it took almost 9 month to process! My upload additional documents button was disabled on 10th November.

Also, Singapore flyer, thank you for the positive and accurate assessment!

Just asking as an interest topic. So far from my personal experience. Most of my Singapore citizen friends with foreign spouse, was able to obtain PR for their other half if they either had a child or working as a professional

I have one friend who has a homemaker wife, they have no kids. He had tried on a couple of occasions for PR. Not successful. They have no children. However his wife is already in late 40s and just maybe, they may not think feasibility of child is possible. However best they obtained is LTVP+ so far. She’s been in Singapore with him at least 5 years. Her education background is close to nothing as well - is that a likely rejection reason too?

Wow, had no idea that was a thing, shocked by the price as well! You’d think obtaining personal information would necessitate jumping through far more hoops.

Possible, but more influential factors are things like race, income, and previous and potential contributions, although that’s a rather vague and arbitrary criteria.

Just got rejected after 4 months of waiting.
Under Others categoty, graduated about a year back from a local university, lived in Singapore for 14 years (went to local institutions since young), salary is borderline 6 figures, speaks fluent mandarin (if that's any prereq for integration lol)
Never expected this to be a walk in the park, but that was a quick rejection

The Sponsor's income is a main factor.

Work for 2 more years and apply again and you should have a fair chance
