Holland village restaurant closed

Post by abbby » Sun, 21 Jun 2020 10:45 pm

One of them got to shut for a week?I think was British curry hut? For not practising safe distancing? Probably too busy trying to make up the past months losses to worry about social distancing and limit rules.

Large crowd outside British India Curry Hut.

Saw some clips there was a fight along there too, all without masks!

What were they thinking ...

One of my expat friends was on the edge of the fight (actually pulled another expat acquaintance out of it who somehow had ended up on his back). He kept his mask on the whole time. I doubt Lorong Mambong will be closed to cars again until Ph 3 (it's normally blocked off around magrib so that people can eat / mingle on the street). Good news is that the SPF have arrested 3 local yokels so far and no expats are implicated yet.

The part of Holland V needs serious social distancing and the authorities will need to station more staff there to check.

Already happened. Very unfortunate for the owner of Brit curry hut because as he said "I don't own the road and cannot control it".

Nakhon Thai Kitchen was also closed for flouting Covid measures, such a pity as I really enjoyed eating at that specific outlet. Something about the open-air roadside environment just made the food taste better. Really wish they had been more diligent in enforcing the measures as this would have been entirely avoidable.

Has Nakhon Thai Kitchen reopened? They have wonderful thai dishes, except for the dessert which is horrible and snaking queues. They're one of the more authentic thai restaurants around that area.

No, I think they were forced to shut down operations at that outlet permanently. Really such a pity.

Just as an update to my previous post, it turns out the lease at their Holland Village outlet expired and they chose not to renew. I was in the area some time ago and saw that the space was up for rent.

Yes, most of the F&B establishments in that area enjoy booming business, I think in this case Nakhon chose to concentrate their efforts on their other outlets (I think they have 4 more). Can’t understand why they would do that though, their Holland Village outlet was so popular.
