Hi all,

Glad to came across this forum and wondering about my chance for PR application. I applied few months ago with my family (wife & kid) and recently my wife gave birth to second child in Singapore. As result is still pending, should I inform ICA to include baby in current application or should I wait for the result first? I understand my chance is not high due to my age on minus side but would like to know if adding baby to current application will have any impact. Appreciate your advice and guidance. Thanks.

Age : 39 (main applicant)
Race : Malaysian Chinese (wife and kids too)
Gender : Male
Marital Status : Married
Education : Master from university in Malaysia
Job : Engineer in energy industry
Length of stay : 3 years (total 7 years including previous 4 years of stay)
Salary : Basic 150k+
Pass : EP (wife and kid are on DP)

Hey there!

Thank you to the few contributors who are offering valuable advice on PR applications in SG :D

Would like to know what you guys reckon the chances of my spouse getting his PR approved will be since I have not seen any business owners enquiring about PR application in any other posts (maybe I did not lurk long enough or wasn't paying enough attention?).

Quick Back story:
(1) We have been dating for 4 years but only married this year in 2020. It is not marriage of convenience but obviously ICA didn't ask about dating duration before marriage so I hope they don't see it as such. Also, my mistake for not reading forums like these online before applying!
(2) My husband has applied by himself 3 years ago when he was a single expat (where I was NOT included in that application since we weren't married, then). Rejected, obviously haha!
(3) Also, we are BOTH new entrepreneurs who registered our own businesses (SG based) in 2019 and 2020.

Thank you guys so so much O:)
best wishes for your marriage.

Your prior salaries are quite low. I would say the only reason he would get PR based on prior salary is because of his marriage to a Singaporean.
However, the rhetorical question is how much revenue are your businesses making? If it's a decent amount then your husband should easily get PR.
Wait 2 - 3 years. Keep the businesses afloat and he should get it.
And Good Luck!

Hi,

I've been watching this forum for awhile now, and I was wondering what are my chances in getting the PR.

Profile:
Race: Arab
Gender: Male
Nationality: Born and raised in UAE but passport is Yemen
Religion: Muslim
Age: 25 Years
Pass: LTVP+
Duration in Singapore: 3 years consecutively (but i was in and out of sg for 2 years before that)
Education: Bachelor Degree with Honours from local Uni in Malaysia
Family: I'm married to a Singaporean(27yrs) and we have a son (11mths)
Marriage legnth: 3yrs and 9mths
Occupation: Working as Automation Engineer for Contractor company (owner is PR, not sure if that is relevant)
Income: (35K me), (40K wife,excluding CPF)
Tax: 3x Tax Cycle

Background: I moved to Malaysia when i was 18yrs and studied there for 4yrs then moved to Singapore after getting married. I've been working since Jan 2018. Started working at 1.8k a month in Hospitality industry. But 1.5 years later my salary got higher and its increasing yearly.

We are planning to get a BTO soon since we are eligible for it, not sure will that help in sinking roots.
Salary is too low from what i can tell

Circumstances seem to lean you on the more likely side, except for ethnicity.
Why not try to apply and see how it goes? Expect a long wait though!

Best of luck with it!

No chance. Not after the latest stink. ICA and the various ministers will be having a complete rethink about the financial sector. Far too many new SC and SPR in that sector for comfort.

Interesting to note the wide range of opinions on my profile from the Gurus. Taking away as little clarity as I came in the group with - guess that’s why it’s difficult to predict outcomes!

All the best everyone!

Cheers,

Very true. (Edit - to be fair the whole LinkedIn doxxing event just happened and I think is really gonna put a rocket up ICA and PAP etc).

Not too sure how much ICA and MOM will be bothered.

For e.g. SCB was recently awarded the Significantly Rooted Foreign Bank (SRFB) status. And one of the criteria was:

(b) significant proportion of global key appointment holders and business heads based in Singapore

I think it didn’t say the global heads or senior management needs to be a Singaporean, just need to be SG-based.

So those MD and ED levels may still be filled by foreigners or PR or naturalised SC. Branch service and sales staff will largely be locals and that will be the buffer to maintain the 70% of ‘local’ core.

Well to be fair I don't think anyone can win against this with Ho Ching, at least not without a revolution which ain't happening.

As for our business revenue, do you think ICA looks at gross revenue or other metric? Just curious :)

We had already made the application, pending results. [-o<

What they will look at is the guaranteed basic salary. All commissions etc may be treated as something bonus/good to have as they are not guaranteed always.

its a long shot, may take many years for PR, salary and rest hardly matter when you come under Others and not C/M/I

Now that's a good question, and I have no idea whether they look at gross or net, though I imagine it would be something like whatever you pay in tax :D
I made the mistake in another post of not saying explicitly that salary is only one component of the decision. There are whole host of other factors involved.
Another positive, would be if your husband employs lots of Singaporeans, with very few foreigners. That is always looked on favourably. And I mean lots of Singaporeans. Especially in this time when people are being laid off. Also, use the company to buy lots (again, I mean a lot) of local goods and services wherever possible and make sure you keep a good record of these payments and submit them along with his application.

But why the rush to get PR now? He will likely get it in a couple of years time, when it would almost be a shoe-in.
