It’s a requirement to submit a declaration granting ICA the right to check your IRAS statements... doesn’t this mean they can check the amount of tax you are paying and can see if you’ve had a salary increment?

Salary updates to ICA for year 2020 will be visible to IRAS only when they are filed in the next financial year (2021). By this time, the PR application may have had an outcome. In short, ICA will not be able to see your salary updates immediately from IRAS unless you update with your salary slip / letter from employer.

My gut feeling is that your chances are quite good. After speaking to several Indian friends over the years - the numbers of PR's for Indians have definitely dropped, but the government does value time spent here and certainly does see your intent to stay here.

You have shown both.

You should definitely update your salary with them and hope for the best.

Dear All,

I would appreciate your thoughts about applying for PR. I came to Singapore in October 2018 on an EP. I filed for PR in July 2019, which was rejected in January 2020.

Currently planning for a fresh application when appropriate. Would appreciate your insights about the following options for timing of the fresh application:-

1.October 2020 (two years after coming to Singapore);
2.January 2021 (1 year after rejection of my first application); and
3.March 2021 (upon getting my 3rd tax return).

Thank you very much.

I think age is your biggest disadvantage. Are you married and if yes, did you apply as a family unit?

Career wise, the view could be that you can continue to do your job as a work pass holder and we are not short of legal professionals here vis a vis jobs required to build the Smart Nation such as AI, innovation and all the buzz words you can think of.
