No approvals for expats or PRs as of now, FDWs are being hoarded for citizens

Seems there are internal guidelines from ministry to do so, might be since no new FDWs are coming in, limited preference is given to citizens and/or they want to please the voters now that GE is near.

I guess the FDW are all from high risk COVID19 countries.

The borders will remain like this till a vaccine is found.

I know some FDWs caught up with this, can't transfer to expat families, only locals. Didn't understand why but Sndy's explanation makes sense.

So their options are go home or transfer to a local and move as soon as MOM permits. Moving from expat employer to local employer is a big change.

A lot of FDW don't want to work as a slave for a shouty local though.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Just confirmed with two agencies - nothing for expats are getting approved at the moment...

Any suggestions?

We both are working and really need a helper!

Why do you need a helper? It it's for childcare then look for after school care. If it's for cleaning and childcare in the home then look for a Singapore PR, DP holder (with LOC) or older citizen lady who needs a job and will work as a nanny (not FDW). If it's for just cleaning then hire a part time cleaner directly or through a cleaning agency.

It's more cost effective if you need all of the above to be done everyday :)

Not if you cannot get one.

I had a FDW all lined up, application then rejected five times over six weeks and we had to let her go. Within a day she was accepted into a locals home.

It's infuriating as my home environment has changed significantly and my family really needs someone to watch young children due to work commitments.

Does anyone know a workaround for this?

Hire a Singapore or PR nanny/housekeeper/governess for abou 2k a month or put your kids in childcare etc. There are some out there. Or accept that you cannot live in Singapore and go home. The gahmen here has every right to prioritize locals needs over ours. The days of being an expat in Singapore on 5k a month or whatever your sub expat salary is and having a live in helper are disappearing. We are probably reverting back to true expat status and locals only.

If you're wondering why the tone of my response is annoyed it's because the work arounds you are looking for are illegal and we don't recommend illegal actions on this forum.
