What happened to the Aussie due to be caned?

Post by PNGMK » Fri, 19 Jun 2020 4:01 pm

Wade Burridge - seems he was sentenced in late 2017 for molestation and then appealed.

I ask as there are rumours online he got out to Australia but I don't know if he did his time or was caned.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

It's like he disappeared from the internet. Plenty of reference to him up till his appeal and then it appears he just disappeared. Nothing anywhere on his appeal other than "Applying for an Appeal" and out on a $40K bail. You might be right. I can't find anything where his appeal was even granted, only that he was applying for.....

No news as usual.

Covered up again? Perhaps. Commoners like us will never know.

Ask the Law Society to comment

He may have done a runner. It seems that in most countries, sufficiently non-high-profile people with the means manage to find a way to quietly rid themselves from society. This way the legal system also wont have to waste time on their sorry ass (pun intended in this case)

I think he has. I had a legal beagle friend dig around and she cannot find an appeal case which means an appeal was never heard. I'm a bit surprised at this as it means the Aussie govt may have been involved if a second passport was issues or possibly Wade had a second passport (he might have a second nationality).

My friend also tried to locate something to no avail as well.
