I'm not quite that optimistic, but good luck anyway.

Would appreciate your advice on my situation - I applied PR for the first time in June 2019, which was rejected in January 2020.

I'm ethnic Chinese, male 46 years old.
Education: Bachelor and Postgraduate Certificate
Working in Singapore as a Senior Legal Counsel, having global responsibilities since September 2018 on Employment Pass until now.
Income: Over SGD200K per annum

In view of the recent rejection, I am thinking about the following:-

(1) Would an appeal be viable? Also wish to gauge my chance of success given my profile?
(2) Or should I re-file in September 2020 (two years after arrival to SG) or at a later date (say January 2021)?
(3) Further to (1) above, would any appeal on the first application jeopardise any new application?

Thank you in advance for any insights and suggestions.

(1) No. Unless you have left out something substantial on your original application. Put in the same data, outcome will be the same result.
(2) This is your best best as it is pretty common knowledge that you need a minimum of two consecutive years (or three tax assessments) before applying for PR (Usually after the renewal of your EP as they are normally 24 months long).
(3) It will probably raise some eyebrows as to why the rush to get PR so fast. But applying 1 year after an appeal rejection probably won't as long as you are here over two years at the time of the second application.

Additionally, we have noticed that those in the upper income brackets (over 250~300Kpa) have a much harder time obtaining PR as that level of individual tends to follow the green and thinks nothing of leaving for another country for an extra 30~50K pa. Also it's not uncommon for a C level person to be parachuted into a position in another country at a moments notice (this especially in the Finance sector). Additionally, age "may" be a factor as there is nothing stated, but over the years we've seen very few over the age of 45 get PR. There is nothing written down anywhere to support this, but it does seem to be a common refrain.

Personally, as you are already over 45, I'd still wait the recommended 2 years and reapply. This will also show them that you are serious about staying. Good Luck.

Further to my post above, and with more volunteer services, as well as longer track record of tax, may I have an estimate of the chances of success of the new application to be filed 2 years after my arrival to SG?

Guess I also need to find a way to explain my circumstances to pre-empt the perception of ‘chasing greener pastures’, too.

Thank you so much for any input.

ICA clearly knows why you are volunteering and how long will you continue to do so.SMS Clearly said that 3 tax returns and you are saying 2 years after arrival in sg.

A search of this forum will turn up numerous instances of 18 to 24 month waits. And the wait has no bearing on the approval or disapproval. We've seen both.

Mine approved after 19 months. Then again as the pros have countlessly mentioned time has no bearing on the outcome.

@sundaymorningstaple I did try to search, not only on this forum but on others as well and the longest I've seen is almost 14months. I wouldn't be asking here had I seen any similar timeframe to mine.

@jay1979 Glad yours worked out!

I'm curious how many others have similar wait times. I thought the result for my application would be out on the 13th or 14th month, regardless of the outcome. Guess I have to wait longer.

Does anyone have anecdotal evidence of Single Moms being granted the PR ?
I've never come across one, hoping others have..
