Moving to Singapore - question about moving furniture

Post by nomadposters » Mon, 14 Jan 2019 4:26 am

Hello Singapore Expats - I recently joined this community, but appreciate all the helpful info so far. Excited about our upcoming move.

We currently live in USA, but I recently took a job offer in Singapore that starts in March. My wife and I are starting to look for 1bedroom, 1 bath condos.

My company is providing free shipping for furniture, so we would prefer to take our furniture with us since it is relevantly new and so we don't have to store/sell it. However, I noticed that a lot of the condos come partially furnished or fully furnished.

Question—if we wanted to rent a condo, how would the we/landlord deal with the current furniture in a fully/partially furnished condo if we want bringing our own furniture? Would we have to get rid of or store the landlord's furniture, or would the landlord take care of it (at a cost or for free)?

Any info would be helpful!

Thanks!

If apartment is already fully furnished then the Landlord would usually just rid the pieces or have a garage sale, pretty common thing in Singapore. Vice versa, empty unit, you can request for furniture items and white goods, you don't ask, you don't get. ;)
