NS requirement for PR

Post by roysg » Sun, 25 Nov 2018 4:08 pm

My wife and I applied for PR with her as the primary and me as the secondary. It was "in principal" approved a month ago and we need to do some documentation to finalize.

However, with this it also came with a letter telling my wife that "your husband may be liable for full time national service".

Can anyone advise? My understanding was that first generation migrants should be exempt. I'm currently the primary breadwinner and working in a startup. Neither my family nor the business can survive me being away for two years...

Edit: FYI I'm 34 years old

You won't be. It's just standard response.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
