Datuk Osman said the proposed bridge – which would start from Pengerang near Kota Tinggi and end at Singapore's Pulau Ubin island – could help ease traffic congestion on the two existing land links between the two countries
Their geography is pretty screwed up. Kota Tinggi is about 80kms north of Pengerang. And between Pengerang and Ubin is Tekong Island.

Or maybe it's just bad English/poor reporting and what they really mean is a motorway with a bridge at the end. Of course there is also a bit of gap between Ubin and Sg. Bum boats will do a roaring trade. :D

Was in Desaru/Pengerang area over National Day Weekend , not surprised they looking to increase traffic there , looks like a lot of money is being spent on homes and infrastructure in that area.

Need to up the traffic flow and ease of access.

There was once a car ferry, I guess it wasn't commercially viable.

Yeah I had planned to try it but left it to late. The Desaru region has definitely gotten busier with the opening of the large bridge (SDE / ESS).

Thats the ferry terminal we used , the one on the Malaysia side is a bit remote so you have to organise transport for when you get there.

Also the Changi Ferry Terminal appears to be in Malaysia according my phone :)
