I am sorry to hear this.
This is indeed commendable. We chose to put our dog down as it was too painful to watch. To witness life being sucked out of her. And also, we were remindered of Mr. EF's childhood pet. It got so weak that it ended up sitting on its own waste.
Fortunately she was continent until the end. I helped her drink her last bit of water at 11pm before I went to bed. It was obvious she was going. Her sounds were nothing like I've heard before and a real honor to hear, they were both reassuring and fare-welling. I think we sometimes take the easy way out with euthanasia and pets (by putting them down prematurely) and I worry we will do it to humans too one day.

She'll be waiting for you on the other side of the rainbow bridge. May she rest in peace.

You know only about 4 days ago she jumped off her stool and went for a bird that was near our window. I'm hoping she finally caught one. It's hard as she died alone but that's what she wanted - she clearly chose a dark hidden corner and curled up in it. I would have happily let her lie on my lap to pass but she'd have been distressed if I had forced it.

So sorry to hear about it. I'm sure Tinny is in good place now.

We have a replacement. This is "Kahtul" - a ditch kitten one of my wife's students rescued and bottle fed.
