Surfers/travel

Post by sg.surfer22 » Thu, 25 May 2017 2:04 pm

Hi all,

I'll be moving to Singapore from the US soon and am very keen on connecting with other surfers in Singapore!

I'm an intermediate/advanced surfer and would like to find other surfers who want to travel to surf in Indonesia (Bali, Lombok, Mentawais) on the weekends or perhaps even for longer trips. Reply on this thread and we can connect over PM or email.

Cheers!

Doug

Hi Doug,

Notice this post is a year old but I am in the same boat - am an average but keen surfer moving over soon from NZ, hobbies almost solely include surfing so a bit concerned I will go crazy!

Does anyone fly over to Bali every second weekend or something? I know there are a lot of spots around SEA however none as convenient in terms of airport to beach proximity. Hoping to find a group of surfers who make the pilgrimage a few times per month.

Cheers!

Hi all, I recently moved to Singapore and looking for a company to go surfing. I'm an average server but keen to improve. Surf in Portugal & Canary islands before & once in Sri Lanka.
Would be great to join a group surfing on weekends in Indo or Malaysia.
Regards, Natalia

Hey Natalia,

Awesome, I'll be in Singapore towards the end of this month. Hopefully we can recruit some more people and start building a bit of a surf crew 8-)

Cheers,
Michael

Hey man could be keen on that - you been there before? If you're on facebook there's a small group called Surfers from Singapore, generally pretty handy for planning trips and getting advice

Just discovered this dated chat...but thought I'd try.
Been living in Singapore for 18months now (with young fam) and every few months am chasing waves here and there (Indo, Sri Lanka, Malaysia etc) to keep me sane. Would be keen to meet others who are working here in same situation, but trying to squeeze in a sneaky 48-72hr surf mission sometime.
Cheers, Michael

I think Cerating should have started building some "swell" by now.

Also, there's a yearly surf contest off Juara, Tioman, usually by Jan/Feb.

Malaysia's surf, typically around the monsoon months, is not the thickest or most consistent, but I guess it will do for a quick fix.

Or if you want even closer, you can have a go at the dumpers off Desaru or Tanjung Resang.
