Salary Cap for Employment Act to be removed! Yeah!

The Employment Act will be reviewed to ensure that higher-paid workers, including professionals, managers and executives (PMEs), will be entitled to employment terms such as paid sick leave and compensation for wrongful dismissal.

These rights, spelt out in the core provisions of the Employment Act, are currently only for PMEs who earn up to $4,500 a month and non-PMEs.

But the salary cap will be removed, in a move that would benefit 430,000 more PMEs - more than half the 720,000 PMEs today.

Agreed. For the peanut gallery who are shrugging and saying "so what" - what this means is that you will have a bare minimum floor for medical leave, vacation leave, working hours etc that you do NOT need to negotiate for in a contract, it's guaranteed by the act. That stops a lot of the shenanigans that people here come and complain about when they discover they are required to work 100 hours a week with no leave or redundancy because they signed a bad contract.
