teaching in Singapore

Post by otilia_piano » Tue, 12 Dec 2017 2:12 pm

Hello everyone,

Me and my husband will be moving to Singapore in March. I will be on a DP and I want to look for a job as a teacher (primary music or piano teacher). I hold a Master Degree in my field and I am have a teacher training in my home country (Romania). I am not a native English speaker, but have a good level of both English and French.
My questions are:
1. can I apply n Singapore directly to the schools or i have more chances if i use a recruiter or participate in a job fair?
2. Are there any kind of job fairs for teachers in Singapore?
3. What are my chances to find a teaching position if I am not UK or USA trained?

Any advice is kindly appreciated.

Thank you
Otilia

Firstly there are International Schools and local schools in Singapore. You can find jobs with the first online or via job fairs run by International School Search etc, none of these are in Singapore. As there are a variety of curriculums taught in different international schools I suspect you can find one that matches your training.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

You can easily find the teaching jobs via Online and there are many job portals from where you can get a variety of Job Opportunities. Being a Part-Time tutor will be helpful.
