Don't run out of petrol - it's a traffic offense

Post by PNGMK » Fri, 05 May 2017 9:13 am

I am not sure if this only applies to expressways but when I ran out this morning the kind EMAS Tow Truck officer warned me to not run out (i.e. don't admit to it) as it is an offense apparently.

Fortunately he happened to drive past a petrol station on the way to the nearest car park (which is where EMAS tow disabled cars).
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

I would imagine expressways, not supposed to stop and no petrol is self inflicted.

How did you manage to run out of petrol? I never trust the gauge, just use the trip meter and after trial and error know when I'm getting too close.

I saw some other day, one of the JB swarming family member, stuck in between on PIA in rather heavy traffic with his tiny hondish motorcycle. I wander what happened to him afterwards.

Letting me wife rush me and ignoring the warning light for too long. At least now I know the exact useable capacity of my tank (55.4 L - not 60L as per manual - I assume the fuel pump pick cannot get all the fuel).

EMAS pick up bikes too if they are not moved on quickly. I've seen tow trucks with them on the back.

How do they do it? I mean, not a motorcycle but securing the area of the vehicle pick-up. I'd rather expect the police to come over (along) and manage the situation. 5 lanes, all moving 50-80km/h, all packed and a vehicle stuck on line 1.

And is it an offense to change the punctured tyre on the Expressway, I mean, the car was on the shoulder, and the tyre that had a flat was on the shoulder side - not the traffic side (left front wheel)
