Skin specialist in Taiwan-Dr wang

Post by Acnsc » Sat, 12 Mar 2011 12:48 am

Has anyone heard about Dr Wang, 王修含 ?
I found him while googling for skin specialist in Taiwan.

The results he put up are pretty impressive.

His blog:
http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/skindr-wang/ ... l=f&fid=11

His website:
http://www.drlaserskin.com.tw/html/fron ... ory=182137

Have emailed him regarding cost but no reply .

Maybe they dont understand English?

Has anyone consulted doctors overseas and successfully cure their acne scarring?

Hi Acnsc,

i went thru his website briefly but i think the treatments he uses are available in Singapore also n actually Singapore may have more types of treatments. Cos he mentioned Fraxel, etc...... i have heard of them. You have to do some of these treatments a few times such as fraxel n not a one-time treatment. I ever enquired about fraxel when it was just brought into Singapore n i think the doctor quoted me more than S$2,000 for 5 or 6 times of fraxel. Maybe it's cheaper now since its been quite a while.

Also i think Dr Wang mentioned something like YAD laser in his website. I have tried NdYAD Laser in Singapore, not sure if its the same as his YAD laser. I still have about a few treatments left. Although frankly, i dont know why but i dont seem to see much effects on my pigmentation with NdYAD laser. Although i read somewhere that its supposed to be an effective laser for pigmentation, etc. My doctor told me its because mine (pigmentation) is very deep n hence it takes sometime. I dont know though but one thing for sure, im still pretty disappointed. I have paid a few thousand bucks for a series of this NdYAD laser.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply .

I have consulted some doctors in Sg , but they either had limited treatment options, or they do not have before and after pictures to show, so i doubt they have enough experience in treating acne scarring.

I was so desperate i actually went to have Erbium laser in Sg,cost ard 1k+ and had no improvement despite the doctor telling me there would be visible improvement after 1 session...

Quite dissapointed cuz treatment in sg is realli expensive and after all the down time, etc swelling redness, i see no improvement..

May i know where are u gg for ur treatments?

Can pm me if it is not convenient to state here.

Thanks again.

I think going overseas is worthwhile only if that technology is unavailable or treatment is cheap relatively for that level of expertise. Acne scarring requires many sessions of treatment, worth cost of travel and time?

For treatment like lasers, the operator operates on the recommended range of settings or even passes of that machine. I see a huge difference when you compare "expertise" of surgeon A to surgeon B for a rhinoplasty but Dermatologist A and B for laser, maybe not that much?

Consider also if you had undergone previous session of laser on a certain setting, the same doc might turn up the setting towards maximum because he might start off conservative on the first few ones to minimize side effects. If you doc hop, then its back to square one.

Have you explored fractional CO2 laser? If you have box scar subcision may help too. Treatment effects too may not be immediate.

Its helpful to research on medical journals and see what can be done and the figures of an expected improvement, and ask yourself "is my expectation realistic".

Sorry for the blabbering

Hi Acnsc,

Actually i have tried so many treatments at the doctors that im getting a bit sick of it, or rather not so much of sick but disappointment. Mine is not exactly acne, more like pigmentation, wrinkles, lines, blemishes, constant breakouts, etc.

I have tried a few lasers, couldnt remember the names. Tried this method (it slips my mind what it is called suddenly) whereby the doctor puts stem-cells cream on your skin n she uses a micro-roller (there are needle-prick like teeth beneath the roller) to roll n these stem cells are supposed to penetrate, etc. No effects on me. I didnt see my skin getting better n my friends didnt note any difference on me too. I paid more than $2k for a course of this treatment. The doctor claimed that it would definitely make a difference n blah blah blah. But it didnt or barely n i was pretty upset n the doctor knew it. This was done few years back but i think now this treatment may not be allowed already. I tried so many types of treatments that i cant remember well. One thing i do remember is i have spent lots n lots of $ without much improvement - lots of $ like maybe $8000 at one clinic n another $9000 at another, etc. I realise it one day when i started counting n wondering where did my $ go to.

But like what Omega says above, i do agree that it may not necessary be ideal if one goes to overseas for skin treatments if these can be found in Singapore. Even if its cheaper there but if you require a series or course of treatments say 5 or more, how are you going to stay so long there? If you make trips to and fro say Taiwan, i think the air tickets n accommodation would form a bulk cost already. So i dont plan to go overseas for skin treatments unless its something really different n not available here.

If you ask me, i think the skin treatments over here could possibly be more than those in taiwan n you may find the latest ones here. I agree that the costs of the treatments here are pretty expensive, maybe partly due to the rental n other operation costs?? But of course, i think the doctors want to earn a pile as well!

I heard that there are lots of treatments to treat acne now like what Omega mentioned above CO2 Laser plus i also heard of Pixel, Mosaic, Fractional, Cosmelan peel, etc. Understand some of these treatments have some downtime n you may not be able to go out for a few days, etc n definitely need to hide away from the sun.

I must say i still get tempted very much whenever i learn of latest treatments at the various aesthetic clinics but i think i must learn to control unless the treatment is really effective for me. Haha.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Yea, me too interested in treatments for acne scarring. All these take time and need series of treatments so it is better to do locally. Right now, read that subcision helps but I don't think it is practiced everywhere.
