LTVP Application Leadtime

Postby ashnght » Tue, 28 Feb 2017 1:26 pm

Hello! My European fiance & I (Singapore citizen) are going to ROM in Singapore in April. We are intending to apply for LTVP for him right after ROM & have gotten successful pre-marriage Long-Term Visit Pass assessment.

As LTVP takes ~6 weeks or more, he will fly back to EU to work until we get the In-Principal Approval (IPA). As we need to plan for the flights carefully due to budget, would be great if we can get some advice on:
1. How often are interviews required for LTVP? Is it typically near to the date of issuance of a Long-Term Visit Pass?
2. Is there any instances where he has to be in SG before the In-Principal Approval (IPA)?
3. Typically, how long does it take for the issuance of a Long-Term Visit Pass after completion of formalities? Does it take weeks?

Thank you!

Approval can take up to 6 months or longer.

Since you did the assessment it may be shorter, but nobody can predict.

There's a rare interview. Though it's more like verification of documents.

For question 2, not that I know of

Hi ashnght,

I am a foreign spouse of a Singapore citizen. I got my LTVP last month.

1. I guess they call it an "interview" because on the date of the issuance both of you have to be there. The letter of In-Principal approval will say it requires both of your presence. Other than that there is no interview.

2. There is no need to stay in Singapore. If need to overstay you can extend your stay at ICA at the cost of 30 SGD for three months.

3. It took me one day only! The In-Principle approval letter says the completion is by appointment, BUT my husband called ICA on the day I received the letter, and they said it is not strictly so.
We walked in and explained my situation (my company is waiting for me to commence work), and they let us get a queue number. The wait is about an hour. After getting a photo taken and fingerprint scanned, I collected the card. It was very quick.
The most important thing is to get everything ready (health checkup report, certificate of marriage preparation program, etc-whatever they say in the letter). I have downloaded the medical checkup form and went for the checkup before receiving the approval letter.

As for the waiting time, if you already went through pre-marriage assessment, 4-6 weeks is usually the case :) I have other girl friends who are married to Singaporean citizens. It took most of them longer than a month but less than 2 months, one of them got her card in two weeks! So I believe yours can be fast too.

Hi, I'm a foreigner who just received my LTVP card two weeks back

I'm sponsored by my Singapore wife

1. How often are interviews required for LTVP? Is it typically near to the date of issuance of a Long-Term Visit Pass?
I was never called for interview, I only had to submit documents by appointment, then after that I flew back to my country and when I received the approval (4 months) I flew to do the medical and complete formalities and collect the card.

2. Is there any instances where he has to be in SG before the In-Principal Approval (IPA)?
I think applicant needs to be there for collection only

3. Typically, how long does it take for the issuance of a Long-Term Visit Pass after completion of formalities? Does it take weeks?
it took me 1 hour to collect the card after submitting medical and completing formalities.

Regards,

Hi all,
We have received the In-Principle approval (Subjected to results of medical examination) for my husband! :)

Noticed from your experiences that it takes around 1 day from completion of formalities (Producing all original & copies of required documents + Medical examination) to getting the Long Term visit pass. Is this correct?

Hi All, just FYI, I received feedback from ICA if all documents are ok, we'll be able to get the long term visit pass on the same day.
