Getting phone calls in Malaysia

Post by Asdracles » Wed, 09 Mar 2011 4:24 pm

Hi all. I'm thinking about spending most of my time in Malaysia for some months. I'm still working with my SG company, but I do most of my job online and by phone.

Company agreed to that, and my main concern is how to minimize the phone bill due to roaming issues.

I mean, my customers still will call my SG number, and it won't be nice to them to give them a foreign number for local issues. When I call them, I would use Skype so that's not a problem. My problem is how to receive calls with minimum expenses.

I was thinking in leaving my SG number here, and get all the calls forwarded to a Malaysian number (with the 018 IDD that should be quite cheap). Any other suggestion?

Thanks!!

You won't be able to do it with Skype because they don't offer any SG phone numbers. But one of these solutions might do the trick.

Thanks for your links. I will take a look at them carefully later. Looks like the cheapest option but I can't keep my number.

When I mentioned Skype I said that I would use it when I have to make calls, not to receive them.

Thanks sincerely!

I use inward Skype with a phone number in Houston, Texas. People call it, rings on my computer, better yet, rings on my iPhone. You will have to get another number with either of those services but guaranteed cheapest way to receive calls in MY on an SG number.

This one may work out much cheaper. at only 0.39 cents a minute US compared to over $1
Though shop around as quality can also vary.

Okay found another very cheap one with no monthly fee and only 6 cents a minute please confirm this price, as it's extraordinary cheap.

What you need is either of these,

http://www.pfingo.com/home/index.jsp
http://www.starhub.com/voice/plan/digit ... lobal.html

Both are services owned by Starhub.

Pfingo is better suited if you want your Singapore number on your mobile phone.
DV Global is better if you need a Singapore landline.

Btw, both operate on VOIP and are dirt cheap.
HIghly reliable.

hey)
I'm currently searching the web for similar one, lately tried one callnspeak for calls from the web browser, but it doesn't have iOS app, only Android one.

They can also try one of services like skype, watsup, hangouts.
I used hangouts being abroad before bringing all the family together.
