Singapore work visa without degree - help!

Post by gjameslondon » Wed, 28 Dec 2016 7:39 pm

Hi,

Hope all is well.

I'm seeking some advice - I have an interview tomorrow with a global company for a Global Senior Account Manager position in Singapore. The salary is above 6000SGD per month - the only problem is - I have no degree - would I still be eligible for a visa - if so, which one? I am a British Citizen. I'd like to know incase they bring up the degree as a visa requirement.

I have 9 years experience - would this qualify?

Look forward to hearing from you!

G

Get them to pay you over 8K/mo and you would stand a better chance. Having said that, 9 years of substantial, directly related experience and a position that would not easily be filled by a local might see you clear. (e.g., a niche position requiring specialized skillsets not normally taught in Universities)

Hi,

Sorry - just double checked my conversion and the salary is 9000 per month.

Hopefully that makes me more suitable? What permit would i most likely get?

Thanks

There is only one, an EP (Employment Pass). But there are three tiers within that single heading. Minimum required for an EP is $3300 but depending on the income level it can allow more people to be claimed as Dependents (collateral baggage like wives and children can be claimed as Dependents if your monthly is over $5K). At the highest levels, you could even bring your parents over on Long Term Visit Passes - to watch the children (income exceeds $10K/mo) .

Who is eligible (new criteria for applications submitted w.e.f. 1 January 2017)

The Employment Pass is for foreign professionals who:

Have a job offer in Singapore.
Work in a managerial, executive or specialised job.
Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,600 (more experienced candidates need higher salaries).
Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialist skills.

Try using the following to see if you stand a chance......

http://www.mom.gov.sg/eservices/service ... sment-tool
UPDATE TO EMPLOYMENT PASS SALARY CRITERIA
(EFFECTIVE FROM 1 JAN 2017)
Q1 What are the changes to the EP salary criteria?

A1 • From 1 January 2017, the qualifying salary for new EP applications will be raised from $3,300 to $3,600.
o New EP applicants who can command a monthly salary of $3,600 or more, subject to meeting other criteria on qualifications and experience, will be considered.
o Those with more years of experience are also required to command higher salaries, commensurate with their work experience and skills sets, as per current practice.

Q2 The EP salary criteria was last reviewed in January 2014. Why is it being
reviewed again after just three years?

A2 • We review the EP salary criteria on a regular basis to keep pace with rising local wages, maintain the quality of our foreign workforce and enhance their complementarity to the local workforce.

Q3 When will the changes take effect?

A3 • The revised salary criteria will apply to new EP applications submitted from 1 January 2017 onwards.
• We will provide lead time for firms to make adjustments for existing EP holders. Existing EP holders whose passes expire:
o Before 1 January 2017: Will be able to renew, for a duration of up to three years, based on existing EP criteria.
o Between 1 January 2017 and 30 June 2017 (both dates inclusive): Will be able to renew, for a duration of one year, based on the existing EP criteria.
o 1 July 2017 onwards: Will have to meet the new criteria for renewal, for a duration of up to three years.

Q4 Will these changes affect the criteria for Entrepass, Personalised
Employment Pass, Long Term Visit Pass or Dependent Pass privileges?

A4 • The Entrepass, Personalized Employment Pass, Long Term Visit Pass and Dependent Pass privileges are assessed on separate sets of criteria.
The revision to the EP salary criteria will not affect these groups.

Q5 Will the EP salary criteria continue to increase in future?

A5 • We will continue to monitor and review the EP salary criteria on a regular basis to keep pace with rising local wages, maintain their quality and maximize their complementary to the local workforce.
