I don't intend to sell up in case it all goes tits up and I have to come back. We had intended on using the red dot as a base for many decades as my 16 yo needs to stay here for his education (he lives with my jandar) and continue to hope to do so.

My friend did the same thing a few years back, and loves it.

It definitely is important to pick up some Thai but it's not overly complicated from what I understand and if you can get short trips sorted on the back of a motorcycle it takes away another major hassle but overall I think you should do fine.

you are late to the party.. as usual.
To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late

You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools

You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Sorry to see you going PNGMK. Hope we can have another drink either here or in BKK one day.
Agree on the Thai language. Almost as painful to me as Vietnamese, which I affectionately describe as "Sounds like Cantonese, if you try to speak it while your head is submerged in a toilet"

Btw, love the sig. Not sure how new/old it is.

I don't know anything about working in Thailand but I do pay rent on a condo in Bangkok, own a car and go there for 5 to 10 days every month. So if there is anything I can help you with, I'll try. Close proximity to Thailand is one of the main reason I came out to this little red dot in 2012.

I think Thai sounds very smooth and nice to listen (especially central Thai or north - Chiang Mai/Rai dialect) - unlike Vietnamese or Cantonese which I find it to be very harsh.
