He'll last.. and die of old age.

In Philippines only those poor and weak bite the dust fast.

As for his shooting from the hips, I won't be surprised if he is getting a better deal.

Gift of 35 year old refurbished UH1s or brand new Mil 17s at discounted price.

35 year old CG cutters gifted with most weapons removed but charged for refurbishing vs newer corvettes ...

Hard to say what he's trying to play but he's not a communist, for sure.

So are many large Japanese Grants and loans: tendered to Japanese companies using only Japanese machinery and equipment.

In one project in Asia, the soft carpets and window curtains for the Pajero exceed and Hiace Grand were specified as must be of Japanese origin.... ;)

Of course, it was all Pajeros and Toyotas for staff travel.

Are the Chinese?

Communism ....
a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs

Sound like China?

China is a corrupt, one-party dictatorship. It remains corrupt because the party that puts the dictators into power also controls the judiciary.

Nothing that China does is ever benevolent; instead, always self serving. You'll never see China at the front of the line when it comes to humanitarian aid unless there are strings attached that benefit China and its dictators.

Duterte is a fool... he has grabbed onto the tail of the tiger, thinking that he is going to come out on top. It is unfortunate that the Philippine people will be hurt because of his moves.

China look towards SG as a model  . Economic growth with limited political freedom and tempered with the right amount of suppression on its citizens. And for SG, just a tinge of democracy (as opposed to outright dictatorship). Just enough to fool the west into thinking it is a democracy. For obvious trade and economic reason. Same same one.

Singapore?
The Philippines, China and now Singapore gets drawn into the discussion.
All these 3 countries have one thing in common - they are in Asia Pacific and yet their current prosperity goes against this classroom questionable narrative about corruption and dictation .

So why are some of you "expats" from outside this region doing in these countries ?
