Epipens

Post by SingBing » Mon, 11 Jul 2016 12:27 pm

New to Singapore and I need to send my child to school with multiple Epipen Jnrs. Does anyone happen to be in the same boat and know the best place to get them? I've googled and have rung around a few places but now have a headache what with people not understanding my accent, being shoved from pillar to post and generally going around in circles. Any help much appreciated

So that's adrenaline/epinephrine used for dangerous allergic reactions, like anaphylaxic shock*...
I have seen someone here a few years back who had a similar issue vs nut allergy.
At first I thought that Epipen might be a trademark/brand from your home market that doesn't 'translate' in a local pharmacy. But Epipen seems to be a global brand.
If you can't get an answer from a pharmacist, or the school 'parent liaison' then I reckon you'll need to go to a doctor and get a prescription. Sounds like a product that is injectible so it's likely that's going to be a tightly controlled product in SG.

you may find that your child will have to see a specialist and get tested before getting a prescription for an epipen...

bring along some proof that he/she has already been tested and needs the epipen jrs. i suspect his/her school will want to view it at some point down the road also...

Hi,

My 11-year old had an anaphylactic shock during the first days upon our arrival in Singapore. He was treated by an allergy specialist at the NUH, who gave us an Epipen. I can give you the Doctor's name if you need it.

Hello, I wonder if you managed to sort your epipen issue?
I am also new to Singapore and asked the GP for a prescription whilst showing proof that we previously used/carried them.

I just went into Guardian and Watsons in Bedok with my prescription and neither had them and advised that ordering them may take some time.
I was also shocked that they are going to cost $211 EACH.
My son requires 2 EpiPen Jnr.
Does anyone know if we can get them cheaper somehow?

Thanks in advance

The cheapest would be from the KKH pharmacy.
