Movie Recommendaiton - "The Man who knew Infinity"

Post by PNGMK » Thu, 16 Jun 2016 10:12 am

An excellent biopic about brilliant East Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (Dev Patel) who travels to Trinity College in England to work with professor G.H. Hardy (Jeremy Irons).

I found this movie quite profound to watch in Singapore because of the never ending ongoing immigration debates both here and (right now) in the USA. Many of Ramanujan's formulas's are still being proven true and some are being used to model black holes - over 100 years after he developed them.

Lido. Move fast. The good movies never last long here. I know it's playing tonight though. There were no spare seats last night. Take some tissues.

Take some tissues. It's surprisingly a bit of a tear jerker.

lmao!! I just woke up...!
he movie was really good! the characters Hardy, little-wood were great, it is a bit moving though and its hard not to feel sad.
however the only bothersome part I have is with casting dev patel in every Indian themed movie, there are better actors than him that they could have picked.
the part about Ramanujan's mom and her coldness towards his wife is probably not true at all and where was his dad? we were taught a completely different story about him in school.

Actually that was his grandmother I thought and even if it was his mother she played a perfect Indian MIL! His father did disappear off the scene in my understanding of his bio. I don't follow Dev Patel enough to know that but I thought he did a great job.

I watched Dev patel in slum dog millionaire, the exotic marigold hotel, then the sequel to that etc and by the time you watch this, his acting has a pattern you get tired of.
you should watch the exotic marigold hotel though, it is really nice, but don't watch the sequel.

I watched the Exotic - it was ok but I specifically avoided the sequel. It had a bad vibe. Did the Babushka enjoy the movie?

Have to wait till the dvd is out. Is it somehow similar in spirit to A Beautiful Mind?
