Difficulties in employing some nationalities

Post by tanvic » Tue, 24 May 2016 7:28 pm

Dear all,

I know of a friend running a School whom has difficulties finding a Swedish Teacher. Do you experience similar difficulties in employing people of other nationalities?

Share your experience with me or PM me if you need more details. :D

Cheers!
Vic

Swedish teacher meaning a teacher that will teach Swedish language or a teacher that's from Sweden?

It means both Swedish by nationality and the ability to teach Swedish....

So... what's so unusual about that? You thing Swedes are flocking to Singapore? I bet you can find 10 million Indians, 5 million Chinese and hundreds of thousands of every other Asian persuasion.

You can find 10's of thousands of Germans, French, Brits. What's the deal? Some nationalities have far less presence than others... and partly because of the policies of MOM.

You can import one. That's what other language schools tend to do, advertise abroad.

Taking an educated guess, the non-tourist Swedish citizen population living in Singapore has to be well below 1,000. It's not a big cohort.

You should try some of the more exotic or rare nationalities like Uzbek or Kazakh. An Ubbek friend of mine has had no problem finding work and getting an EP for working with exporters/importers who deal with the CIS. However I suspect the school doesn't want to pay the going rate...
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

I know some Swedes from my local bar. Wouldn't let them near children though. :-)

To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late
