How to copy SMS messages to your PC ?

Post by martincymru » Mon, 04 Apr 2016 12:10 pm

I have two smart phones.

Sony Experia
I downloaded "PC companion" onto my PC. There is no menu to view messages in or sent thus I cannot copy to another format (word, excel etc.). Sony say "correct, no facility".
What to do?

Oppo Neo 7
Ditto.
With Oppo you can archive/back up as a zip file then transfer to your new phone.
//
Both Sony and Oppo do not have a facility for me to keep a record of my SMS messages on my PC.

? Anyone help please ?

Use this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tore&hl=en

1. Install on both phones.
2. Use app to back-up files on the Sony.
3. Copy backup file from Sony to Oppo.
4. Restore on the Oppo; point to where you copied the file from the Sony.

Take a picture with a digital camera of the phone.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Or a screen print on the phone and email it.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I simply need to read (and able to word search) sms messages on my PC using word or excel software.

Ignore fact I have 2 phones.

Wondershare MobileGo will permit you to export SMS messages to an XML file.

Still works

* after you've done your backup, remember the location of the backup files
* plug in your phone, enable access to storage to it (depends on brand, OS version of phone)
* copy the xml files you see in that location in your phone. Your SMS's should be "sms-<YEAR><MONTH><DAY><TIME>.xml"
* try to open that file in Excel:
* when asked, choose "Open the file without applying a stylesheet"
* when asked, choose "As an XML table"
* you should then have a neat spreadsheet of your messages with nicely marked columns

If you want to copy SMS messages from Sony and Oppo phone to PC, you can ask Android SMS backup tool for help, which can help you transfer all text messages from Sony and Oppo phone to computer for backup.
