You will have to ask them; this is an expat board.

Besides, the survey (and the OP's message) lacks any context or some more detailed explanation.

For example:
Do you think having a foreign domestic worker is more of a necessity or a privilege? *
[ ] Necessity
[ ] Privilege

It is almost a necessity in Singapore but objectively it is not a necessity at all. It is not a privilege, it is just a service. So none of the options is valid or people may respond with the same answer meaning something very different.

A necessary evil for some.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

More and more are looking for alternatives. Like getting part time housekeepers instead. Just like in the USA. My sister just left me a voicemail seeking tips on how to maintain a clean home :D . She wants to stop hiring live-in maids and do it herself instead.

I can tell you from my very own ongoing experience, that having no FDW maid and a kid makes the whole thing 2-3x more expensive. In Singapore at least. We pay ca 2k5 to a local lady for taking care of our son and things like ironing and house cleaning we do by ourselves.

Does the Govt allow professional childcare from non-SEA nations?

Could you get a nanny from Europe for example?

On a case by case basis, MOM allows exemptions.

Know HNWI guy who's child's nanny was a British lady.

They do vet to ensure the person is not a relative.

I assume you're much happier with the care she gives your son then? If not, why not hire a maid?

Privacy and insufficient space (I am not going to let anybody sleep in a bomb shelter). And yes, we are very happy with that lady. She is a real gem. If not the case, we would probably decide to hire a FDW anyway.

If you are an expat family and both husband and wife are working, then it is hard to manage without an FDW since it will be difficult to get family to help. Child care centres are very expensive for foreigners and the times they operate are not convenient. Many foreign employees in my circle work in shifts.
