Indian Online Entrepreneur wanting to move to Singapore

Post by icekid » Thu, 22 Oct 2015 5:05 pm

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I fell in love with Singapore a couple of years ago, I have been to Singapore 6 times so far.

I am an Indian Online Entrepreneur, I am location independent. I make about USD 15000 per month(that's about 20,000 SGD) from all my online ventures. I want to move to Singapore for three reason.

1) More opportunities for my business
2) Better resources (more business expos, seminars etc. Also better internet)
3) New Creation Church (I love this Church)

Now, I don't want to get a job because my businesses need my attention.

What are the options do I have to stay in the country?

Here are the options I can think of:

1. Legally marry an opposite gender adult who has permission to stay in Singapore (S Pass or Employment Pass holder with S$5,000/month in fixed salary, or a Permanent Resident) or the right to stay in Singapore (Singapore citizen) who then sponsors you for a Dependant's Pass or a Long Term Visit Pass, as appropriate;

2. An EntrePass;

3. The Global Investor Programme;

4. A Student's Pass to pursue a degree in Singapore, and assuming your pursuit of that degree (and satisfactory progress toward that degree) would only interfere with your business pursuits to a tolerable degree;

5. Occasional short visits as you've already been doing;

6. Same as #5, but while residing in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, perhaps via Malaysia's My Second Home programme if you qualify.

If you can't meet the requirements of the global investor program, your best bet would be to engage a company to create a private limited for you, appoint a nominee director, then apply for an EP for you.

MoM approves these on a case by case basis. Given that you have more than sufficient income to support yourself, and have an ongoing successful business, I suspect your likelihood of approval to be quite high.

You'll need to file for an EP manually in order to supply supporting documents such as your business plan, previous audited financials, bank balances, etc. You should read my thread in the Business forum about the Entrepass. While you won't qualify for an Entrepass (and probably wouldn't want one), my comments about business plans, banks, hiring, etc are still applicable to the method I have suggested for you.

Good luck, I think you'll make it. Singapore is becoming an incubator for these types of ventures.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
