1. I was a PR in 2001-2003
2. I returned to New York to take care of my dying mother in 2003 and gave up my PR (thinking not to return)
3. I have now been on EP with my own company, here, for the past 7-years.
4. I'm 50+
5. Is there anyway to re-apply for PR, or has that horse left the barn?
In your favor: Your were granted EP afterg giving up your PR. Also the fact that you have been in Singapore for 7 years.
What potentially works against you is your age, although I got PR at the age of 57.
I'd say go ahead and apply but be prepared to answer questions like: How long do you intend to stay in Singapore? How long will you retain your job and current salary? How do you intend to support yourself once you reach retirement age?
If you are not committed for the long haul, that is, you are going to retire in Singapore... if you tell them you will leave again at some point when you retire, then that will be the kiss of death... there is no reason to give you PR.
And really, except for giving you more flexibility in jobs, why do you want PR?
Excellent advice. Yep, I'd plan to stay the "long-haul". I really don't wanna go through the hassle of always applying over and over again for EP. The justification (with the new foreigner rulings) process has me sweating-it every 2-years. Just went through the process, again, last month. Thank goodness I got it granted. So, I was thinking PR would resolve some of those challenges. Or am I totally off-base?
Not only all the sums you withdrew, but also all the interest AND all the interest that would have accrued had the funds been left in situ.
