Does this surprise anybody at all?

SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers

His law degree is "less than legitimate" and is "better than real." Did he get his from Colombia University?

"Several Indian politicians, including some in the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, face similar charges." looks like the whole party comes out with fake degrees.. 8-)

They're not fake! They're better than real.

In India every other MP or the member of the state legislative councils, have Law Degrees ..now I understand how hard they studied for it ;)

Some were rumoured to be able to only sign checks (and their Swiss bank accounts) but were Honorary Doctors as well

Doesn't surprise anybody. India's reputation is popular world over, especially in this part of the world. Infact people here know more about India than Indians themselves, thanks to the media :)

But the freedom of press ranking of Singapore media will surprise a lot of Indians I guess ;)

I told you before .... you need to make friends with more locals ... and if you did... you will remove "this part of the world..." from the above statement. That's all I will say ...

While we are talking about India and fake degrees...

The elite college has always been notoriously difficult to get into, but took its entry criteria to near-farcical proportions this year by setting a cut-off of 99% for students applying for its English Honors course from the commerce stream.

India is a country of contrasts.

With the large population, Medical Unis stop accepting students who get anything less than 95%. If you score less than 95%, your choices are limited.

While those who got much much low scores can pay a donation and sneak into some of the mid range Unis

And then there are universities run as large businesses, and accept anybody as long as large 'placement fee' is given

Country of contrasts, true. But its such a vibrant and happening economy. I am amazed. Right now vacationing in Bangalore. The number of eCommerce startups here is amazing. Everyone here seems to have a mobile phone with a 3g connection, booking cabs like Uber and shopping online.
