Terminal to be Jurong East at the Singapore end ....
Jurong East MRT is unpleasent at the best of times with the amount of folk there swapping lines already. This should make it even better.

Surely its going to be connected to the MRT network somehow???
Otherwise how are you going to move all the people quickly who will be arrving and departing.
Or is the cross island line going to go to the new station?

They likely have to build a separate railway tracks for the train. I dont't think it would all fit to the current JE MRT station. Somwhere underground, or near, a bit further down South with some a monorail or other short distance linking options?
Sort of like Changi MRT.

I have my doubts about the Singapore government's enthusiasm for this project.
It could be a real game changer, but the problem is that the economic benefits would accrue mainly to Malaysia.
If Singapore really wanted to improve connectivity with Malaysia it would sort out the mess at the land border crossings. It hasn't, and I can only conclude it doesn't want to.

But 90 min to KL without all the fuss of getting to the airport/through/and back appears tempting...

I doubt it will link. Not even sharing the same station. My guess it that the line ends near Jurong East station with a short walk over. Probably the distance would be like how one would walk to change lines in Outram Park, Buona Vista or Paya Lebar station.
I hope they are not doing this like how Malaysia does its LRT system, where an interchange means that you have to walk really far to change the line. Just like the mess they call Masjid Jamek station.

I call Iskandar "Metroplex" and the Woodlands CIQ "Fortress Maximus."
You don't need to look up why I chose those names and just how they sound like based on what you know how they look like should be enough.

Short walks for transit is vital .... especially if it involves hundreds of folk at once.

Not necessary. More importan is the space to accomodate them. Again, take any airport as an example. This train is not going to be for local commuters. I would be more concerned about sufficient cabs in the area.

The folks who built the Batu caves extension have the ability and experience and experience and so do a few private industrialists ..
I suspect this will be a private venture ..

A person was run over by an MRT train near Kallang MRT station at around 9pm yesterday. Apparently they trespassed on the track illegally and ended...
