NTUC online - have you tried it?

Post by JR8 » Wed, 29 Apr 2015 12:09 pm

I was in NTUC yesterday and noticed the signs upn encouraging one to order from them online. As I queued at the cash-till then plodded home through the jungle-thick air, it's possible virtues grew.

Does anyone use it? If so, how do you find it?

I bet the delivery truck's empty and the driver would just automatically slip "We missed you because you weren't home" cards under people's doors without even trying to knock first. :P

Yes, a few times. Pretty much the same everything like on-line CS.
I found Redmart a better choice.

I gave up on NTUC as I found it so troublesome to simply register! It wouldn't accept the phone number I entered, but there was nothing indicating what it disliked about what I'd input or what it wanted instead. I could hence proceed no further. I input my day-to-day fully-functioning mob-number, into the 'Mobile number' input field. I've had the number several years now; no questions it is valid and works. It flagged up a bare 'Number invalid'.
'Eight straight digits, no '-' or spaces, nope hmmm. Maybe it wants a zero on the front, hmm, nope. Or maybe two zeroes? Nope. You don't think it wants the international prefix!?... nope'.

Not a very encouraging start to an anticipated overall customer experience.

p.s. Under their 'alcoholic beverages' category, it's split into Domestic and Imported. IIRC two brands were under 'Imported' some weird Taiwanese non-beer-like girly-beer, so I was thinking that's all I can choose from if I don't like Tiger/Anchor! Nope, everything else was under 'Domestic', in fact 95% of those listed there are imported, Budweiser, Hoegaarden, Carlsberg, and so on... Over half the product lines are seemingly marked as 'Special Offer!!' [ ], and perhaps a third are marked as 'Out of stock'. When you add things to Your Basket, it doesn't show the quantity you have in there, just the total price per product line.

It is the most shambolic 'web-shop'/'web-front' I've ever seen.

Its old website was easier to navigate, this new version is almost impossible and everything is forever out of stock, I dont bother with them anymore.
I now do a combo of CS and redmart

I'll try Redmart. I'll also x-check CS too; not a regular shop-choice for beer/water and such heavy/large products as such, but I do see their delivery vans coming to this block on a regular basis. So, neighbours are actually managing to fill in the flippin' order form... a good sign! :)
