The avatar column placement is harder than I thought. There is no reliable extension for this version of software at the moment.

Shall do it once there is an official extension for it.

The message suppression for additional posts does not seem to be working.
I received 60 notifications for just 2 discussions in the past 2 days.

I would have had to have looked at these discussions that many times to reset the message flag, but I know I didn't. Thought I saw someone else mention this, but don't see it now.
Figure out what else changed inadvertently?

Just an observation. On my desktop the avatars/writer details etc have always appeared on the right, i.e. and still do.

I mentioned it, and it still seems to be happening. Example: I got 7 e-mail alerts re: the 'Just offered a contract... [etc]' topic, since logging off last night.

I have in my mind going away somewhere pretty remote, taking a day or two getting there, then at the beach-side, dive-centre, or village cafe with the seemingly inevitable patchy wi-fi, trying to download my e-mail, and the problem these repeat alerts might cause. [Even with a single alert per active topic, there are times I've been in such places, and DLing e-mail can be a real challenge, due to the volume...]

In the past was it one email per reply or one email per many replies?

It was one e-mail to alert you to new activity in a topic you were 'watching' or had participated in. Then when you followed the link in the notification e-mail you would find the activity in the topic, and perhaps other messages added written afterwards.

Then you being up to date on the topic, whether you replied perhaps again or not, when there was later new activity, you would again get another e-mail. Unless you clicked the link in the e-mail, roughly, 'Stop following this topic'.

The difference now seems to be that you get an e-mail alert for every single new post, whether you've checked back into the topic again or not. Hence why I can say not go to a topic from/since yesterday,
and wake up to find 20 notifications re: new messages in that one topic in my inbox. It adds nothing of value, but uses bandwidth.

[Hope that's reasonably clear :)]

edit: confusing typo

Apparently the notification options are a little different from the previous version. In the User Control Panel, you can select to OFF the email and ON the on-site Notifications instead which will be shown on the notifications icon once you log into the board. See below:

I will however, continue to search for any way to limit the number of notification emails sent.

Please also check your subscription status in the User Control Panel to see whether you have subscribed to any forum. Cos perhaps when someone replies in the topic in the subscribed forum, you receive 2 emails.

Anyway, at the moment the default behaviour of the board is to send ONE email for ONE reply and I can't find any way to change it.

Before this upgrade, there were different 'themes' which gave you either option. Like Steve Jobs, Pal took that choice away from us with this upgrade. Unfortunately the new version isn't slick and shiny like an Apple product to distract at least Lynx and myself from what we lost :P

[Thanks Pal, I've tweaked the notifications as suggested. Hopefully they will now just flag-up on the top of this screen.]

I remember 'themes', and looked at them when they were new, but never had a need to toggle/use them. Perhaps on other devices...

p.s. Neither is it $$$ like an Apple product  :)

I've had no e-mail Notifications overnight [hurrah], but at the top of the screen it also shows 0 Notifications [hmmm].

From the Active Topics button I can see new posts in several topics, including two that I started [hmmm].

Maybe switching preferences only applies to new topics started after that switch?

It was one e-mail for the first reply and no more until you either replied again or maybe just checked in.
