Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The finality of death. We all have to face it one day. The past week has been filled with heaviness, having gone through boxes of tissues. May we all excercise forgiveness and tolerance in the face of adversity and on our worst enemies. Love and peace to the world :console: .

As long as it is not slandering anybody or against religion or race, nothing stops anybody from debating

The reason I see why more than a few opposition were sued is because they tried stunts to win sympathy votes not knowing that accusing somebody of something without facts or imaginary statistics is slandering.

Or did I miss something ?

Maybe I missed something. I thought more than xxx number of people gathered together to debate is not allowed unless approved in advance.

And LKY's legacy continues with Amos Yee now on bail. By charging the boy, all they've done is draw attention to him, exactly what he wanted. As articulate and intelligent as he is, expect to see big things from him in the future.

Seriously ?

The Muttons on the move posted this :

"His parents do not look happy in this video. But Amos, on the other hand, looks like he just struck 4D."

And anybody remember the old quote: "My parents caned me for not behaving, and now I suffer from a sickness called respect for Elders"

Sorry, can't find the source ..

I agree, well thought through and reasoned, esp. considering how little time he had to write it (since the original piece to which his is a 'reply')...

I agree too with the exception of some of his general views on the democracy (Western, and general) that I think are pretty utopistic.
No doubts there were trades off in the phase 1 and no doubts there should be a phase 2 with this sort of trades off minimized.

An interesting question is.... when do you accept that you have politically arrived towards an ideal, as best one ever might?

That perhaps marks the time at which the functioning structures are in place, and the state can begin 'to let the hair down a bit', allow individualism, not intimidate opposing voices etc., embrace other than has been previously mandated.

Otherwise what is all the precursor spade-work for, if the full and final fruits of it it are to never be enjoyed? Or is it going to be a case of our job is never done, and we must go one a fight lest we lose what we have achieved?

Hmmm.

The millennial generation is quite different from the previous in what they want to get out of life. SG needs to be able to engage the younger generation. This article provides a bit of an insight.

An interesting article on Amos Yee.
