I totally agree with ...Guess! I went to SGH too and it seems like they dont like to talk, which makes me feel so uncomfortable. Probably because just like what ...Guess has mentioned, they don't propagate excessive surgery. In the end, I have decided not to do it, at least not now.

Better find the surgeon that you are very comfortable with, if possible, show some pictures the outcome that you expected (e.g. shape of your eyes, how high is the crease that you want), and the sugeon will tell you whether it can can be done or is it suitable based on the shape of your face.

Regards,
Indigo

Hi Indigo, like u i was also uncomfortable with the SGH doc intially. I had also gone for consultation with 2 famous doctors. Did one procedure with one of them while my frend did hers with the other. On hindsight, i think the docs at SGH are more ethical. I mean i felt tt i have been influenced to a certain extent..into going for some procedures by the famous doc tt i had gone to.

I feel tt there is a big difference in doing a proceudre for a patient and suggesting that a patient has a problem and needs surgery. Now i have mixed feelings about whether I shld have gone for surgery in the first place.

I had a procedure done at SGH, result is ok. Consultation is very short, book a date for the surgery and send you off. Doctors are competent & professional, but don't expect any personalised care during and post-surgery.

eyelid surgery

Post by stresspig » Sun, 05 Jun 2005 10:56 pm

Hi,

I have read through the whole forum and narrow down my option to:

- Gleneagles

May I know where is this place? Any websites?

- Gorgeous Getaways

As for this, after reading through the web, it seem that they are more specialize in foriegn people like aust, usa and etc. Any asian been there before to do an eyelid operation? Which 1 did you choose? Malaysia, Aust or Sing? Which doctor?

- Yanhee Hospital

- Dr. Fong Poh

I am planning to take out m eye puffiness this coming november and also do something to my eyes to make it look bigger? I already have double eye lid, any suggestions?

By the way, for those who have been to eyelid surgery, do you feel pain during or after the operation? Can you behave as normal like go for running and etc after the operation? Is there any scars left?

Have consulted both public & private docs. Feel that those in private have high sales pitch. A private doc recently contacted me if I'm interested to do more procedures with him.

ukchinesegirl wrote:Hello everyone,

I read this thread a couple of months ago and thought that it was v.old and dead so was pleasently surprised to see it still going. Iam 17 years old and am desperately wanting rhinoplasty and double lid surgery in the next couple of years. The sooner the better in my opinion. But my main priority is the eye surgery, the skin has become so heavy due to makeup application and I really want this for medical and cosmetic reasons.

Can i just ask, where do you all live. I know i'll have to travel abroad for surgery as there is no where in the Uk that will do asian surgery. I'd love to go to Korea but am worried about the language barrier and I dont want to travel to a country by myself. Because of that am quite interested in this one www.asianeyelid.com its in the US, somewhere i wouldnt mind going.Theres no pictures on his website because he explained how it cannot show the problem results by pictures or something like that. Hes taught asian eye surgery to other doctors too. Dr chen specialises in the eye which makes me want to go to him, as other surgeons that do alot of other procedures, asian rhinoplasty will only cover about 1/10 of thier experience. Whereas dr chen does nothing but blepharoplasty. But am also wanting to do rhinoplasty and the best place to go would probably have to be Korea, i think id prefer to do that with a doctor hich mainly does rhinoplasty as it means the job willl be well concentrated on the nose. Like the site everyone else has already mentioned looks really good http://www.nose.co.kr/english/ .

Am desperately anting this done in the future, I dont ant my family to find out as they would object to it. What is everyone elses situation?

hi,
im having the same situation. im here in australia n im concern that the doctors might not understand the result that i want as they're used to handling western nose shapes, not asian.

im thinkin of going to korea cuz the results r gud n cheaper too...

damn, i wish i could go if i was older!lol, and i live in the uk anyway. If you dont mind me asking momo, how old are you and what ethnic are you? And if you cant find anyone to go with you will you be going by yourself. I think this is what ill end up doing but just wondering if anyone else had guts to do it too.

Hi Momo,

I've visited the website and the results are really impressive. My concern would primarily be the language barrier - aftercare -and if anything stuffs up it'd be in a foreign jurisdiction. Risks aside, I'm interested in surgery too. Do you have any idea the approximate cost of a rhinoplasty surgey in Korea with that particular doctor?

Hi Apple 1,
Since you have experience with both govt & private docs.... can you advise if it is a good option to consider SGH for tummy tuck? Which doc should I go consult?

Thanks!
Hilda - mama with 3 kids.

I'm in the UK and know peeps who've had surgery....(boobs, face) but I ask you all to please, please be very careful of where you get these things done....any surgery, eyes, tucks etc.

Yes, done properly they are great, if expensive.

But you know that old saying? 'You only get what you pay for.' Nowhere is this more true than in surgery.

Also, think THINK about language barriers....what the hell would happen if after surgery you got a clot, or a haemorrage(spelling?)...anyway, you know what I mean. How would you tell the doc or nurse how you felt, where the pain was, who to contact your folks?

Careful, careful. Go have things done by all means but save up a bit more and wait for a good doc.

In the UK we look up the docs on the Baaps network or Royal College of Surgeons or the British Medical council.

Please ladies, I agree that if you want to change yourselves, good, fine...why not? But live to tell the tale girls.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Hi fragilesteem,
With Dr Jung, i think the cost for rhinoplasty is around 4000USD. Its quite expensive but the results seems to be good. Me and a friend is going to Korea this saturday, im doing eyes, shes doing nose. We are both scared but at least going together.

Hi Hilda,
Sorry can't recmmend a doc from SGH for tummy tuck since I have not personally enquired abt this. Perhaps someone who has done research on and went ahead with it can advise you. Because docs from SGH don't talk alot, it appears that they don't show much interest in you, you leave the room still in doubt. This is esp so if the procedure is for aesthetic reason (not medical-related purposes).

Hi Momo,

all the best for surgery in Korea. Do keep us posted on your progress. Are the costs inclusive of post-op consultation or is it for the cost of surgery alone??
