Better route to get a PR for my gf?

Post by alexkh » Mon, 09 Mar 2015 12:30 pm

Hello all,

My gf applied PR last year and got rejected with the reason to apply after 2 years.

Her basic info:-
Basic salary: S$2.6k
Nationality: Malaysian Chinese
Education: Degree
Duration in SG: 1year 3 months

Me:-
Basic salary: S$2.8k
Education: Degree
Nationality: Malaysian Chinese
Singapore PR since 4 years ago

She applied in Aug 2014 (6 months after working), a bit too soon lol. But we are going to get married soon in 6 months time. May I know will it be better to apply under my name for her next application after we get married? If applying under my sponsor does she still need to wait for the 2 years?

Please share your experience!

Thanks!

Yes, once you are married it will be better to apply as a married couple.

It would also behoove you to still wait the requisite 2 years that she was given in her last rejection letter. That way it will not look like she is using you to get PR. After waiting for the two years, she can still file for PR using either the PTS or Family Ties. If she applies under the PTS scheme, you will already be listed in the new application and they will issue the PR using whichever will give the best point spread. Definitely wait the two years from the date of her previous rejection.
