I wasn't immediately persuaded by Pal's suggestion.... but a few seconds later I remembered that all our daily crockery is indeed from IKEA. Plain white, simple, hard-wearing, we've had it c10 years and still going strong. I don't know what their tableware/cutlery is like, but surely worth a look if it is anything like their crockery. Plus they often have all-in-one 'starter boxes', cutlery, glasses, crockery at very good prices => simple.RyanTheLion wrote:Hi, I am new to this forum. Just moved to Singapore for less than a week and trying to settle down and furnish my house. I have been trying to shop around for dinnerware in Singapore but seems like I can't find much alternatives other than Taka which sells really expensive plates and bowls.
Do you guys have any advice on where I can buy nice and affordable dinnerware?
Tangs to me is akin to John Lewis. Middle-range/+. Focused on solid quality/value.Pal wrote:Can also try TANGS at Orchard, they have a comprehensive dinnerware section at the basement.
Knives except butter knives wear down easily. Otherwise (if you don't need sharp blades), they're fine. A lot of cafes and middle-tier restaurants use IKEA crockery and cutlery.JR8 wrote: I don't know what their tableware/cutlery is like, but surely worth a look if it is anything like their crockery.
"orchardgateway@emerald" yet another ridiculous place name...JR8 wrote:And another thing that crossed my radar this morning...

Certainly worth a look I would have thought, esp. considering the central handy location.
