Net neutrality

Post by Brah » Tue, 11 Nov 2014 9:46 pm

Saw this and thought of SE:
http://gizmodo.com/ted-cruzs-net-neutra ... 1656821283

"Net Neutrality" is Obamacare for the Internet; the Internet should not operate at the speed of government.

"This is a disingenuous, chickenshit political maneuver and nothing more. "

in contrast,

....Obama, is finally standing up for the internet, and asking the FCC to classify it as a public utility. In other words, he's asking the agency not to allow destructive things like fast lanes (a.k.a. paid prioritization) or throttling.

Ted Cruz is clearly just politicizing things: "Obama's supporting it; so I must demonize it." Either he is that selfish or he clearly does not understand what net neutrality means. It's probably both and shows a complete lack of willingness to even try to understand things. It's extremist thinking.

As SE knows, there is a part of me that is considering a move to select areas or area of that state, mostly because of the strong job market there, the warm weather, and other reasons.

But I cannot fathom the culture crisis I would face living there, or how long I might even last.
