First run with the new FCF

Post by brian_singapore » Mon, 27 Oct 2014 8:57 pm

My first experience externally recruiting under the FCF.

Position: Mid-level management position in IT/Banking
Position posted on company website & the job bank, as required by FCF

Experience so far after 1 week....:
- Total 5 applicants from company website;
* 3 mid-level IT professionals (<4 years experience wholly unrelated to the position)
* 1 administrative assistant with 16 years experience from the Philipines
* 1 'IT management' candidate with a wholly in-applicable skillset
- From the Jobbank
* 1 candidate who passed the HR review - duplicate candidate, HR indicated I wasn't required to give a mandatory interview (the 'IT management' candidate)
* A 'large number' (HR's words, not mine) of new graduates / trainees that HR didn't bother passing on.

Actually, the FCF is less intimidating that Jobstreet

In Jobstreet, if you are a premium subscriber, a typical scenario will be like this

Positions open : 1
Salary : 4K to 5K
Your salary : 4K
Applicants asking above your salary : 5
Applicants asking below your salary : 200 (or more .. asking below the offered salary ...)

Now that's scary .. and no prize for guessing who the employers prefer ..

The 200 at less money then you are probably the trainees and new grads HR didn't bother sending me :D

Those stats were from the hiring manager side btw. I have no idea how many are reported to be applying via the job bank.

the Job bank lists the no of applicants, to anybody who has proper access, and also shows how many viewed the JD !

Correct. Also could be foreigners who are already here on even more miserable salaries or miserable situations.
