I want a new mouse pad and I want the thinnest possible. However, I also find spending more than loose change ridiculous so I want to DIY it.
And I also want to do a whimsical project, if you call 30 seconds of cutting material with ordinary scissors a project. Currently, I'm using a piece of corrugated cardboard that came with the mouse as a mouse pad. I know this will eventually wear out so I'll need a replacement.
What are your (whimsical) suggestions for a DIY mouse pad?

For the past umpteen years I've been using a cutting pad. One of those square things that come in several different sizes, green in colour and with various grid lines embossed on it. It also works very well as a cutting board. Never wears out and is only ~3mm thick. Dual purpose. Works for me.

Oh yeah...I forgot about those. I should have one buried somewhere.

I use whatever piece of paper is nearby and handy. But only because I have a glass desk. Toying with getting one of those mice that work on glass:

I probably would have already if I could find one with a cord.

I've got a cheapo soft foamy one that grabs my glass desk superbly and is razor thin. Best of all, pad-mouse contact is so light, it feels like I'm holding a wee little hovercraft - effortless.

Mine is a free range mouse, I don't use a pad for it. It rolls freely on the table cloth.

I'm the same in the office. I just use it directly on the desk top. And it's really free range as it is also wireless. Anywhere also can. Works on my jeans as well.

My home desk is apparently too slick and reflective for my mouse.

There's a new menstrual cup, but sorry the idea and thought of it just freaks me out. I'll stay traditional.

Agree with myasis… if my eyes do not deceive me, it looks like their are screw holes on the bottom of that shaft, just ever so barely visible.
