Swim Training Squad in the East

Post by hotandhumid » Wed, 13 Aug 2014 10:45 am

Hi All,

I am an avid swimmer and am seeking others who will be interested in forming an informal swim group training together weekly. in eastern Singapore.

I was potentially thinking of:
* 4-8 intermediate to advanced swimmers
* training early on a weekend morning (energetic & early start to the day)
* around 1 hour in duration
* at any of our condo pools, or Katong Pool (if need be)
* using standard training guides
* doing the occasional socials too e.g. brunch after swimming

PM me if you are interested (with your contact details as I currently cannot PM in return).

Thanks,
J[/list]

And now you can.

Question: What standard training guides are you talking about? I'm curious to see what routine you're looking at.

gee thanks Lynx, are you one of the administrators or just a mountain cat with super powers?

I have a few to choose from, actually.
(a) some from Blythe Lucero
(b) Emmett Hines 'Conditioning Swim Workouts'
(c) a few designed by some ex-Olympian friends

In the end, they are structurally all similar, and may be tailored depending on the general goals. They will essentially consist of some balance between technique and conditioning. My ultimate aim for this is that we get a group together to motivate what would otherwise be dreary laps.

Any suggestion is welcome

I'm your helpful deodorant spray that promises angels to fall for you when you use it. And the one who happens to know that one needs to make 5 productive posts before enabling the PM function in this forum.

Lynx - Falling Angels

I am not familiar with some of the names, will Google those.

But I'm more into endurance training, with series of laps with varying intensity to train for distance. Occasionally I do drills just to maintain (if not, improve) my stroke forms. I no longer swim competitively for speed.

Keep this thread going. I'm always on lookout for new and good swimming routines.

Hey folks,

Thought I would sit this one out for a few days, but replies have barely trickled in. If it helps, I am able to PM others now :)

Looking forward to hearing from you aquaphiles.
