Employer inform MoM if change Name or Sex

Post by martincymru » Fri, 13 Jun 2014 1:31 pm

When I renewed my passport my Employer got a letter from MoM saying must notify if change

Name
Sex
Nationality
Date of Birth.

Does anyone know anyone who has all of the above?

(I am having a laugh.......)

I have known a few ladies (most actually) who seem to change their date of birth everytime they have a birthday. :)

On a serious note, you should proactively notify MoM when your passport details change, especially passport number. Also, need to update all the places like banks where they use your passport as proof.

IIRC, it is legally possible to change your official gender in singapore (after the big snip)... as well as certain other countries.

i'm not sure about DOB though... i know it's allowed in certain countries... my grandmother had her birth date changed by a judge (although she still wasn't 100% sure if it's correct as her birth was not recorded so she had no birth certificate). i suppose if she was living here the govt would want to to keep tabs on an old lady like her...

or simply to correct a mistakes made by the passport agency?

I'm guessing lots of Indonesian FDWs who came here on a fake DOB may want to change it at a later point in their life.

Also, record keeping as to when someone's actual DOB was isn't up to the standards in a lot of countries. My Inlaws have no idea what their actual DOBs are. Just the Month and year (and I wonder how accurate the month is).
